Chanteloube Bridge

Chorges

Description

The Chanteloube bridge or the Moulettes viaduct : the unfinished railway line

It is one of the principal works of art realised during the construction project of a railway which was supposed to connect Grenoble to Barcelonette. Initiated in 1910, the realization was interrupted in 1934 in favor of the Veynes/Briançon line.

Since the construction of the Serre-Ponçon dam, the Chanteloube bridge is completely flooded during the maximum water level and partially submerged at its normal coast of 780 meters.
In winter during low tide the bridge is completely above the water level, so you can go walking or cycling on it.
